The lads made the longest trip of the season up to Washington to play table toppers Duke of Albany under no illusion this was going to be a tough game. We knew getting a result here was going to be a bonus but we were more importantly determined to put in a good peformance. The game started with a flurry and it was Crosshills who made the early running hitting the woodwork twice in the opening 10 minutes including a Brian Platts strike that came off the underside of the bar and was cleared away. Unfortunately the boys werent prepared for the Delap esk throw ins that Duke had in their armoury and consequently found themselves a goal down as Bill dropped a long throw and was duly converted by the Duke striker. Things got worse a few minutes later as another ball into the box wasn't dealt with and Duke got a 2-0 lead from close range. It was a bitter blow to take but credit to the lads we didnt let our heads drop and kept pushing to get back into the game. It was Washingtons Keepers turn to make an error as he somehow allowed a ball to roll through his legs near the edge of the box and Martin Brom accepted the good fortune converting from 12 yards (Nearly missed like). We got our tails up and a dink over the top saw Steven Bagshaw burst through the defence and convert brilliantly slotting into the bottom left hand corner. Half Time 2-2 but unfortunately we lost Mally Dickenson to injury and that looks like his season is over.

We were back in it and second half were pushing to win the game. We managed to take the lead a good move saw Bagshaw chase threw again and forced the Washington defender into an error who pushed a ball into his own net for 3-2. The lads had done brilliantly to get into the lead and we were determined to hold onto this. Duke pushed to equalise but we looked dangerous on the counter. Yet another throw in caused mayhem in our box and saw the Duke Striker nip in and his header bounced into the left hand corner with just 5 minutes to go for 3-3. A draw probably a fair result the lads were dealt another crushing blow as a fine strike from 18 yards out flew into the top corner giving Duke all 3 points.

An excellent performance just dissapointing not to get anything from the game.
