The promotion credentials looked like taking a massive dent as Witton Gilbert came to Sedgefield and put on an excellent first half performance leaving the lads 2-0 down at the half with 2 own goals from Brian Platts and Pulla. With things set straight at hlaf time Crosshill's laid seige to the goal and had already hit the woodwork twice in the first half. Mally Dickenson was back to his usual quality and caused problems all day and hit a wonderful volley which rattled the bar in the second half. We were further frustrated and it looked like it was going to be one of those days. Two substitutions saw a change in fortune as Davy Taylor and Phil Bland came on. Dave knocked a wonderful ball over to Bland who was unmarked in the box but chose to volley instead of bring it down and saw his shot go wide. Then in the dying minutes Bland latched onto a cross his shot was blocked from 4 yards but Dave Taylor was on hand to squeeze it over the line. It was a test of nerve for the Witton lads but in the last minute Peter Sedgewick saved the day as he finished low into the right hand corner of the net to earn the lads a point. 3 points were the order of the day but 2-0 down with 7 minutes to go youll take a point.
