A HARD FOUGHT POINT
Chilton WMC 3 – 3 Sedgefield NETPark
We knew this was going to be a tough test for the lads playing Chilton is never an easy task and this was going to be a mark of how we can expect to do this season. As every game this season so far we still had a good number of absentees from the squad, hopefully soon we will be able to have a full strength squad available for Pulla and Spanna to pick from. Onto the game and its fair to say we were comfortably second best in the in the first half as Chilton settled into the game creating a string of opportunities and thanks to Darren Bill who made a host of tremendous saves we were lucky to still be in the game at the half. 1-0 to Chilton at half time it could of been 7 but it actually should have been 1-1 with Dan Piling seeing a perfectly good goal ruled out it would have been somewhat harsh on Chilton.
After a dressing down and re shuffle of the pack we knew we had been given a great opportunity to get ourselves back into the game. We couldn’t of started worse right from the off we conceded a corner and they extended their lead to 2-0 with a header at the back post. We were really up against it and we had to do change things quickly or the game really was going to get away from us. We started to push forward and against the run of play we got ourselves back into things. Some fantastic work down the left from Ryan Boardman really got us back into the game and when he got the ball into the box early in the Second half a scrabble ensued but Stephen Turland showed tremendous feet then lifted his shot into the roof of the net to make it 2-1. We got our heads up and started to get ourselves back into the game getting a hold of the ball and putting Chilton under pressure for once. The more we got into it the more we threatened with Dan Piling really pulling the string in the middle of the park with Ryan Boardman a constant threat down the left hand side. We got ourselves on level terms a good move which saw Ryan Boardman break into the box and finish fantastically to make things all square. The game ebbed and flowed throughout the second half with chances either end going begging. Chilton did get themselves in front again and with time running out we could of given up the chase. Credit to the lads though we kept going and wouldn’t give up and when we forced a corner we were determined to try and get something from it. A good delivery into the box and Dan Piling completed a fantastic individual performance off with a well deserved goal. 3-3 final score and a very pleasing result considering the first half.
